This nation claims to be one of the poorest nations on the earth but they throw down almost $4 billion to host a series of 64 soccer games. I find it a little odd that the nation is going through all this work and going spend all of this money on building stadiums that can’t even be used after the cup. I guess that what bothers me the most is that we see these adds on the Television that say that we can feed a child in these countrys for only 19 cents a day.But I guess that South Africa has chosen to forget all abou these kids that are dying in there own nation daily.

Haha! a little over the top if you ask me.

I personally think that the FDA has the obligation to regulate or at least do something to better control the food that is made here. I think that it is irresponsible for the FDA to allow company’s such as McDonalds or KFC to produce such high fat, high calorie products and sell them to uneducated americans who were never taught about fat or calories. And I honestly think that we can take all of the obesity and blame the poor education in the country. Because If the people are not educated how can the afford to buy the organic health food that we really to be eating. Oh yeah I mentioned KFC because of their new ad campaign that raises money for the Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer research foundation. I say this because the not-for profit organization has always noted that fat in foods is one of the leading causes of  Breast Cancer in america.

I think that the families of the children need to make the choice to push their child but I think that there need to be a point in which we look at what the sports are doing to schoolwork our social life and the way that a family functions at home. I think that the line has been crossed though when your child is making a verbal agreement to play in college like 13-year-old David Sills of Delaware who recently promised to play for the University of Southern California (USC) yes that’s right USC a division one football school and yes he made the agreement at 13. I have to think that this is slightly inappropriate for the school to do. When have you crossed the line?

The reason that I started off with the part about compensating and trying to impress the rest of the world is that I just wanted to know how the city is planning on using every single floor of this enormous building. it seems to me that the building is really more of a status symbol that for any sort of practical use in any way. I will say that the world does need to progress and I believe that achatecture is good start in the advancement of society. But when is do we need to draw the line and ask at what price a symol of our so called “status” in the world costs. The almost 3,000 foot tall tower was built at a staggering price of over $1.5 billion leaving the country in serious debt. I thiink that weneed to step back and look and look at what is more important in the long run a tower or the lives of the millions of people in the U.A.E that are barely getting by many of whom live in shanty’s.

As the world is going green the cars are too. The automotive industry has done its best to avoid collapse and I think that they did a pretty good job at it. The newest cars that are being produced are practically all either hybrid or flex fuel. I will tell you that for me I love Power and noise so as long as these new cars, trucks and SUVs are powerful I’m okay but for me I feel that as soon as the level of power and sporty feel drops I don’t know if i’ll have the same opinion about the issue.

Now since I am trying to do my best to highlight the good and bad I will mention the unfortunate Wi-Fi problems that is is experiencing. Users say that the actual Wi-Fi on the iPad is either not working or it is just going online and coming off repididly. Apple has released multiple trouble shooting techniques to help on saying to lay the iPad on a flat surface. I do thin though that over time it will ultimately fix its self either through an update by Apple or a newer version that will fix it. One other thing that I find a downer is the pricing on the models starting at $499 with 8GB and Going up to $899 for the 64GB with 3G coverage through AT&T (no contract). it may or may not sound terrible to you but if you do get the 3G model yo either pay $14.99 for 250MB and $29.99 for Unlimited (this is per month)

Overall I believe that iPad will pretty good, on their first day they did sell over 300,000 units, yeah on its first day in stores. I also believe that the Wi-Fi problems will all be sorted out eventually.

Unlike the country of Haiti which we all saw crumple due to the quake there, The country of Chile and its government were ready. They had different and much more efficient ways of communication as well as the building codes that the country used that in many ways are much like that of San Francisco. Many of the buildings there were built on ball bearing systems that allow the buildings to rock back and forth with the earth. They had rules on the designs, structure and building material that Haiti didn’t. Now I do think that if your country has a history of earth quakes you are probably more likely to do more to ensure that disasters like the quake that struck Chile in the 60′s that killed over a million people can’t do the same damage again.

         In the past ten years we have seen that the economy in Venezuela boom this is I admit due to the leadership of Hugo Chávez. The nation has become one of the U.S’s biggest suppliers of oil and a worldwide tousism destination, Known for their beutiful coasts and just as great culture. I think that whether we agree with his style of leadership or not we can not deny the fact that he has done some good for the country and continues to do good. Now I personally do not agree with the laws that he has passed one of which nationalizes the country turning it almost totally socialist.I think that if we can look past the paranoid,socialist figure-head of Venezuela that is Hugo Chávez we can see that maybe the government is not all that bad.

Bono has been nominated for the Nobel Peace prize 3 times and has become one of the most influential celebrities of all time. Many of the worlds leaders have called upon him to help in aid, these leaders include; President Obama, President Bush, Rihanna, Robin Williams, Jay Z, President Sarkozy of france and even the Pope John Paul II. He is an amazing musician but in many ways just as good a person.

As the situation Haiti is slowly getting better through the efforts of the world. It is time that we start to slow down. The doctors that are down in Haiti now need to prepare to be there fo a while. The medical need and attention towards those that are injured is absolutely necessary to these people (many of whom would have died if it were not for the effort of so many). It is time that we start to focus more on the engineering aspect of the literal rebuilding of the nation. There are already many engineers currently in Haiti the problem that they face is the lack of equipment and tools to try do the job that they are down there for.

I guess what I’m trying to get across is the need for more aid but at a manageable rate that can benefit the nation and its people. I am saying that we need to stop going down in massive flocks with the intention of helping, and only finding that they do not have the equipment necessary to help. Or the many that are leaving so much work to so little. The solution in my opinion is a controled number. These doctors either need to stay there for the long haul or before leaving the country they need to make sure that there are adequate numbers of people waiting to go down when they leave.
